What facilities does the retreat centre have?

Below is an overview of the location, and what the retreat facilities include.

Campus

The front of the camp has a grassy lawn, at the rear is the shoreline. No swimming may be done as the water is rocky.

Dormitories

Typical to camp amenities, the Prospect Youth Centre provides twin-sized bunk beds. Up to 12 students sleep in each dorm, along with one Retreat Counselor and one Teen Leader per dorm.  School Club Sponsors (Teachers) are encouraged to accompany their students.  Students will lodge in one of four dormitories, which are separated by gender.  Each dorm can sleep a maximum 12 students.

Conference Hall

There is a large conference hall where chapel will  be held. Some meals may also be eaten at times.

Kitchen

Inside the upstairs conference hall there is a large kitchen where meals will be lovingly prepared by our Retreat Hospitality Staff. All meals are lovingly prepared in the Prospect Youth Centre kitchen and may be consumed in outdoors or in the hall if weather is poor.

ALLERGIES! In order to keep our students safe, we will maintain a nut-free environment – and we need your help! If your children will be bringing any personal snacks, please refrain from candy or snack items with nuts or peanut butter. This will help us be as safe as possible for everyone. Restrooms

Male and female restrooms are available upstairs in the conference hall, as well as in the dormitories.

There are also showers provided.

Will I be able to visit the camp site during the retreat?

The retreat is open to visitors in the daytime sessions, however, only overnighters are allowed to be on property. Security will be strictly enforced.

How often are the grounds/facilities of Covenant Point inspected?

The retreat centre is inspected by the United Church staff. However, prior to every event held, we always ensure that our staff peruse the facilities to ensure the safety of the facilities and ISIVCF supervision standards. Additionally, during orientation an Emergency Action Plan will take place, so that students are aware of the locations of fire extinguishers, exits and gathering points, should an emergency take place.
